9-Year-Old's Death Under Investigation In Watervliet Authorities are investigating the death of a child in Albany County. Officers from the Watervliet Police Department and New York State Police responded to a Watervliet residence on 2nd Avenue on Saturday, Aug. 2, for a report of an unresponsive 9-year-old. The child was pronounced dead at Samaritan Hospital, according to State Police. There is no perceived threat to the public, the agency added. Watervliet Police transferred the investigation to the New York State Police. The child’s cause and manner of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.
