A Long Island teenager was seriously injured while crossing a roadway early Thursday, Aug. 20, police said.
The 17-year-old boy was walking across Route 25A near Chestnut Street in Mount Sinai around 12:55 a.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.
An 18-year-old man driving a 2020 Acura westbound in the left lane struck the 17-year-old victim, police said.
The 17-year-old, who lives in Mount Sinai, was rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries, authorities said. The 18-year-old, a Miller Place resident, was not injured in the collision, cops said.

Nicholas Zavesky, 43, of East Patchogue, was arrested Thursday morning, Aug. 20 in possession of dozens of the images, the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Cops got a tip about Zavesky’s behavior from the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and searched his residence on Knot Street on Thursday, Aug. 13, seizing multiple electronic devices, police said.

A Long Island man was killed in a single-car crash on a two-lane road late Wednesday, Aug. 19, police said.
Matthew Adcock, 54, of Huntington, was driving a 2016 Ford Edge northbound on Dix Hills Road just south of Hren Court around 11:25 p.m., the Suffolk County Police Department said.
Adcock’s vehicle left the road, crashed into a fence, and hit a hedge before coming to a stop, police said. Investigators believe Adcock suffered a medical episode, triggering the wreck, authorities said.

A 23-year-old Long Island man was killed in a crash on an electric scooter on Wednesday night, Aug. 19, police said.
David Anthony De Jesus, of Roslyn, was traveling westbound near Dosoris Way and Elliot Place in Glen Cove around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, the Nassau County Police Department said.
De Jesus collided with a 2023 Jeep Wrangler being driven by a 19-year-old woman, investigators said.
